The 2015 BMW i8 ($136,000) was recently put on display at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The plug-in hybrid is BMW’s latest release in the high-performance category. The i8 is built from carbon-fiber reinforced plastic and has an aluminum platform. It has two engines, the gas motor is 3 cylinders and puts out 236-foot-pounds of torque. The electric motor is 131 horses (96 kilowatts) and puts out 184 foot-pounds of torque. Maximum output is an impressive 362 hp and 420 lb-ft. The really cool thing is that when tested the i8 got 94 miles per gallon. Expect the i8 to be released sometime next spring.
