If you’re anything like me then you love kicking it in sandals. Now when I talk about looking for the best sandals for men I’m also including flip-flops in the discussion. There are many types of these comfortable shoes. In this article, we’ll try to include a wide variety to fit any situation.

So what exactly makes up the best men’s sandals. Well for one, you’ll want to look for build quality. People wear sandals in all elements. It’ll do you no good if they’re falling apart after wearing them a few times. So let’s state the obvious, leather sandals should only be worn in dry conditions. If you wear them in water you’ll most likely ruin a good pair of sandals you paid good money for.
If you’re looking for an all weather sandal look for the majority of the components to be made from rubber or nylon. As far as style goes you’ll want to keep slider casual, by pairing them with pool, or gym wear. Flip flops are pretty versatile and can be worn with pretty much anything.
And lastly Birkenstocks can be worn with anything as well, but I’d be careful in wet conditions. Birks will develop water stains if you don’t use a spray on repellant, and if fully submerged in water the leather will become hard and brittle. But whatever your environment or lifestyle I am sure there’s something for you on the list.
I just received a pair of Hari Mari Men’s Fields Sandals Blue & Black ($60) and I’ve got to say I love them. I can definitely see these bad boys being my go-to sandal year round, whether I’m in the house or hanging out by the pool. The Fields are lightweight sandals that somehow feels super solid while being very comfortable. Features include a durable non-marking outsole, solid arch support for all-day wear, and a soft-squeeze midsole for the top of the line comfort. The Nike Benassi Men’s Sandal ($23) is a classic slider. You’ll want to wear these guys after a workout or at the pool. I definitely like to pair these shoes with ultra casual wear and never with jeans or khakis, it just doesn’t look right. The Benassi have a rubber sole and a contoured footbed for extra comfort. The upper is synthetic so getting these guys wet is not a problem. So if you’re up at school and need a shower sandal these would work.
The Y-3 Qasa Mens Sandal ($349) is a collaboration between Japanese designer, Yohji Yamamoto, and German sportswear legends Adidas, Y-3 combine an innovative approach to materials with a reinvention of athletic staples. Inspired by adventure sports, this sandal features luxurious detailing, sat upon the Qasa’s unique Tubular outsole. Additional features include an elasticated strap uppers, Poron performance cushioning, on a Qasa EVA outsole.
The Suicoke Moto-VS Mens Sandal ($225) has a rich history and is built to last. Previously impossible to track down outside their native Japan, Suicoke started out creating hand painted Russian dolls, eventually moving on to footwear after teaming up with legendary rubber manufacturers Vibram. Matching the Italian brand’s high-performance materials with their innovative approach, the brand has created a confident and clean cut collection of functional outdoor footwear. You will love the Nike Benassi JDI Mens Sandal ($32). It’s basically like walking on air. They will be the most comfortable sandals you ever wear. They feature a textured footbed and a soft foam midsole that utilizes Hyperfuse technology and is combined with a rubber outsole. These are perfect for wearing around the pool or just as your everyday slippers. You can get them in pretty much any color you can imagine so getting them to match any of your outfits won’t be a problem.
Keen Uneek Mens Sandal ($100) by name, unique by nature, there are few new sandals that make such an immediate impact as these ones. There is a sole, 2 different colors of cord, and that’s it. They look comfortable, feel comfortable and you will be hard pushed to find anything quite like them. The perfect summer sandal in more ways than one, the Uneek is the sandal to wear if you really want to stand out in a crowd. The innovation of the construction, with its 2 cords, molds itself to the foot to give a perfect fit. Whatever the shape of your foot the Uneek will match it, so no more sliding around in hot weather.
The Jordan Hydro 5 Retro Mens Sandal ($52) is probably the best recovery slider you can by. Whether you’re coming out of the pool, off the track, or off the court, these on the sandals you want to put your feet in to help recover from the pounding you’ve just given them. These Hydro’s feature a full-grain and synthetic leather upper with adjustable velcro fastener strap, a lightweight Phylon outsole and an injected TR massage footbed to soothe key performance areas of the foot. You’ll never want to take these guys off.
The Olukai Ohana Mens Sandal ($65) is the latest sandal from vegan footwear specialist OluKai. With the look of real leather but 100% synthetic, these lightweight sandals are comfortable, breathable and quick drying. The sturdy arch support means that even those who suffer from flat feet can wear trendy sandals whether on land or in the water. The lining in a jersey knit for additional comfort while the rubber sole, which leaves no marks behind, greatly improves traction. There are few sandals on the market today which are as ethical yet look as good as the Ohana, and for this price, they are a real bargain.
The Birkenstock brand has roots dating back nearly 250 years. Birkenstock creates shoes which are an acquired taste, to say the least, but also environmentally friendly. The Birkenstock Boston Men’s Sandal ($115) is a clog-style sandal that’s been around for over 35 years. The Boston is basically a sandal-shoe hybrid that features a single galvanized buckle strap closure, a distinctive covered toe, together with luxury leather lining for a comfortable feel, cork footbed with textured grip and shock absorbing EVA sole.
A member of the Reef X Mick Fanning Signature Series, the Reef Fanning Mens Sandal ($50) are serious sandals for those who want style combined with comfort during the hot summer months. The water-friendly upper is made from synthetic nubuck which is super smooth for extreme comfort. The molded, EVA footbed boasts an anatomical support for your arch. It’ll give you all day comfort however long you wear them. There is also a full 360° airbag in the sole for shock absorption. For those who like a quirky feature, the sole has a church key for cracking open bottles. This makes for an awesome party piece, but it would be a good idea to take off the sandal first! These are probably one of my favorites for everyday wear and truly one of the best men’s sandals.
If you’re headed to the pool or the gym more than likely you’ll see someone sporting the Adidas Originals Adilette Men’s Sandal ($30). These guys have been around since the early 70s and they don’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. Adilette’s feature a comfortable contoured footbed, a synthetic upper for durability and quick drying, and a textile lining for comfort. Wherever you’re heading these will be your go to’s. You can just throw them on rain or shine.
Billed as a guy’s performance sandal, the Reef Phantom Mens Sandal ($32) is cool, comfortable and looks ace. It definitely deserves to be on the best men’s sandals list. The synthetic upper contains nubuck lined with air mesh, offering great comfort and water resistance. Teva molded the entire footbed from EVA. It has an anatomical arch support courtesy of the contoured compression molding. The underneath is both grippy and durable. These are a pair of sandals that will take you right through the summer and beyond. An absolute snip at the price, these Reef Phantoms will be seen out in force this summer. Expect to see them in abundance at beach parties.
The Rainbow Premier Leather Mens Sandal ($51) is the most famous of the Rainbow range, and its got all dressed up for this summer. The traditional single layer that we all know and love is still in place. They’ve also used their latest classic finish leather throughout to make it all fancy. The top grade leather used in the construction has a clean, fresh look thanks to the polished top sole. The double stitched strap looks awesome and a bonded nylon thread holds the nylon toe post firmly in place. Anyone who’s a fan of the Rainbow sandal, and who isn’t?, will love this summer’s model.
Finally, we have a flip that won’t flop, as the Chaco Flip Ecotread Men’s Sandals ($65) are built to last way longer than your average summer sandal. They have 2 key elements; style and function. The upper contains a polyester Jacquard webbing with the toe post consisting of high tensile webbing. The durable polyurethane LUVSEAT footbed boasts the classic diamond pattern to offer slip resistance. The non-marking outsole contains a 25% recycled EcoTread rubber. For those with a long, hard summer ahead and want a sandal that will last, EcoTread is a great choice.
Southern Californian surfers created the Sanuk brand back in the 1990’s. They couldn’t find a sandal already on the market which reflected their lighthearted lifestyle. It also protects the foot from sharp objects. Toe post sandals don’t suit everyone. These are a great alternative for those who want a comfortable summer sandal without chafing between their toes. With 1 inch between the bottom of your foot and the ground, these make a great summer sandal.

These sandals feature a traditional nylon webbing and a contoured EVA top sole for comfort. The rubber outsole takes a beating even on the toughest trails. The Originals are available in 11 color combinations and make a great addition to any wardrobe.
Everyone and their brother want to cop a pair of the Supreme Men’s Summer Sandal ($135). Every so often they come back in stock on Supreme’s website.
