Joel and Ethan Coen joined their directorial talents together in 1996 to bring us Fargo ($9). Starring William H Macy, Frances McDormand, and Steve Buscemi, this movie pits a very pregnant Marge Gunderson, a policewoman, against Jerry Lundegaard (William H. Macy) and his bungling band of henchmen. Jerry works in his father-in-law’s car dealership, from which he’s embezzled a lot of cash. He then puts into motion a scheme to kidnap his wife to get his father-in-law to pay the ransom. Things go down hill from there. A great dialogue movie with some brutal action scenes including the famous wood chipper scene.
