Last summer we did a write-up on the $30,000 Ressence Type Three Watch. Ressence is about to release its little brother and it looks like they’ve created another masterpiece. The Ressence Type One Watch ($TBA) uses the same technology as the Type Three but it’s in an updated case with some changes to the indications. The Type One also looks a bit thinner. The dial is made of spherical discs that display the hours, minutes, seconds, and days. The whole thing including the dial revolves under a sapphire crystal. The technology that sets Ressence apart from other watches is the perception that you’re looking at a 2D image being projected on to the crystal. There are no hands or crown, the settings are changed and the watch wound by turning the back of the case. You can see the dial in action here.
