Mike Posner is one of my favorite artists. Not just because he’s from my old stomping grounds of Detroit, but because he’s one of the most honest artists I know. After five years of dealing with the trials and tribulations of the music industry and taking a long hard trip towards self awareness and acceptance he’s finally released his latest LP Mike Posner – The Truth ($4).
If you don’t know Mike, in 2010 he released two of his biggest hits, Please Don’t Go and Cooler Than Me. His earlier efforts are marked with a distinct Hip Hop feel, while his latest releases I would describe as au naturel. His naked true self laid out for the audience to either reject or accept. Be As You Are is beautiful, but the other songs are equally amazing (I Took a Pill In Ibiza, being one of my favorites). For $4 bucks, The Truth is a no brainer. Also if you’re going to be in the Philly area on July 29th, you can check Mike out doing an unplugged set at Milkboy, 1100 Chestnut Street Philadelphia, PA. You can buy tickets here.
