What a brilliant idea. Sony has just killed two birds with one stone, with the release of the SONY LED LIGHT BULB SPEAKER ($199). The speaker has the model number “LSPX-100E26J” and will be released in Japan on May 23rd. It takes an LED light bulb and combines it with a Bluetooth speaker. The whole kit screws into a standard light bulb socket. You can control the 360-lumen light with a smartphone app that can control the volume of the speaker and the brightness of the light. The sound is delivered by a 40mm, 2-watt, full-range speaker. It won’t blow your socks off, but should be good enough for some nice background music. The Light Bulb Speaker also comes with a remote control just in case you don’t have a phone near by. No details yet on when it will be released to the states.
