1. Overview
The Muted Project, and its affiliates worldwide (collectively “Muted”), respect the privacy concerns of the users of its website at https://muted.com (the “Muted Site”), all Services licensed to and/or made available to users, and all User Generated Content displayed on the Muted Site. This privacy statement explains what information is gathered during a visit to the Site and how it may be used.
Please also review the Terms and Conditions, which also govern your use of this site. Your use of the Site and/or any Services constitutes acceptance of both this Privacy Policy and the Terms and Conditions.
2. Use of Information
As a general policy, no personally identifiable information — such as your name, address, or email address — is automatically collected from your visit. However, certain non-personal information is recorded by the standard operation of Muted’s internet servers, including:

- Mobile device information
- Operating system
- Device IDs
- IP address
If you sign up for Muted’s online community, we may collect information about the people, accounts, and groups you are connected to and how you interact with them, such as people you communicate with and interests you share. We may use such information for helping you and others find people you may know and for connecting you to enhance your experiences within Muted.
In limited circumstances, we may request your phone number for account verification or authentication. Your number will only be used one time for that limited purpose and will not be saved.

Muted’s mailing lists, downloads, special offers, contests, registration forms, and surveys may request contact information (name, email, mailing address), demographic information (age, gender), and personal preference information (tastes, interests). The type of information collected will vary depending upon the activity and may include:
- First and last name

- Third-party account information (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)

- Contact information of friends (if you connect social network accounts)
Muted may share information with business and promotional partners to further those interests, but such information will never be sold or leased to third parties. Muted does not store credit card information except as necessary to complete a specific transaction.

Muted may disclose user information in special cases when we have reason to believe disclosure is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone causing injury to or interference with Muted’s rights or property, other users, or anyone else who could be harmed by such activities.

These cookies are restricted for use only on the Muted Site and do not transfer personal information to any other party. Neither Muted nor the Muted Site knowingly permit the use of malware, spyware, viruses, and/or other similar types of software.

Muted is not responsible for the content or practices of third-party websites linked from the Site, nor for any information you share with such sites. Please refer to each site’s respective privacy policy prior to disclosing any information.
9. Bulletin Boards & Public Comments
Users are solely responsible for the content of messages they post publicly. When you voluntarily disclose personal information (e.g., username, email address, phone number) on the Muted Site, that information can be collected and used by others and may result in unsolicited messages. You are responsible for the personal information you choose to submit in these instances.
10. Security
We have implemented technical, administrative, and physical security measures to protect your personally identifiable information from unauthorized access and improper use. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access. Servers storing personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.
Unfortunately, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. By transmitting information to Muted, you accept that you do so at your own risk.
11. Choice / Opt-Out
The Muted Site may provide you the opportunity to opt-in to receive communications from us. You always have the option of removing your name from any email list. Please follow the specific instructions within communications you wish to stop receiving. If unsuccessful, email us at privacy@muted.com, including a copy of the undesired email, and state you wish to be removed.

Once per calendar year (or as required by applicable law), you may contact Muted to review the personally identifiable information collected about you. To do so:

- Delete other information: Email privacy@muted.com with subject “Delete My Information”
13. Retention
We will save your personal data until you erase your user account or otherwise exercise your right to erase your personal data as described above.
14. Transfer of Information Across National Borders
The Site and Services are operated on servers in various jurisdictions, including the United States. When you access the Site, personal information may be transferred outside the country in which you are situated. Muted’s policies ensure personal information is protected to the same standard globally. We maintain appropriate contracts with standard data protection clauses approved by the European Commission with all third-party service providers.
15. Pennsylvania Privacy Rights
Pennsylvania law and the laws of other jurisdictions permit residents to request from companies a list of third parties to which personally identifiable information has been disclosed for direct marketing purposes. Muted has not and will not share your information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
